See the World and Study Abroad!

The University of Kentucky may be based in Lexington, KY, but we give our students the workd. As careers and the culture become increasingly globalized, many of our students opt to spend a summer, winter-intercession, or a semester studying abroad.  You can learn about global media systems by the ocean in Dublin, Ireland or do your internship in the shadow of Big Ben in London, England. Get course credits, learn about increasingly global careers, and explore the world? Study abroad can be one of the most memorable parts of the UKJAM experience for many students.

The college offers opportunities to study in Dublin, Ireland; London, England; and Cape Town, South Africa while taking courses with University of Kentucky faculty. Students also can study in a dozen different countries through the UK Exchange, UK Direct, UK Global Design, and UK Partner Education Abroad programs Learn more about study abroad here. Five journalism majors in the Summer 2010 World Media Systems course spent 32 days in Beirut, Lebanon through a program funded by the Fares Fundation. The students were led by Prof. Terry Anderson, the Associated Press' former Beirut bureau chief.  To read the students' blog and see photos from the trip, click here.
