CIS 112 Service-Learning Thank You Breakfast

CIS 112 Accelerated Composition and Communication instructors and students partnered with a variety of non-profit organizations this semester to facilitate student service-learning. The course is an accelerated version of the standard two-semester composition and communication sequence and focuses on integrated oral, written, and visual communication skill development and emphasizes critical inquiry and research. In this course, students sharpen their ability to conduct research; compose and communicate in written, oral and visual modalities; and use their interpersonal skills to work effectively in groups. Students are assigned a non-profit to work with throughout the semester. This year's non-profit organizations included: American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, Campus Kitchen, UK Healthcare, serve, TOPSoccer, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, and Lexington Philharmonic. At the end of the year, CIS 112 instructors and students invite leadership from each of the organization's to attend a thank you breakfast and acknowledge the year's CIS 112 Outstanding Service-Learning Organziation. We are pleased to announce that the Fall 2018 CIS 112 Outstanding Service-Learning Organization is the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge!
