A Resume-Writing Workshop

The Information Communication Technology (ICT) program sponsored “How to Package Communication and Technical Skills on Your Resume,” a resume-writing and video interview technique workshop with Analysts International on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.

Analysts International has been hiring IT professionals in Lexington, Ky., for nearly 40 years. Some of their first clients were IBM and Lexmark; they have since expanded into other areas of the Lexington market. Julie Ganucheau, Senior Technical Recruiter at Analysts International, led Tuesday’s professional development workshop.

Ganucheau said, “You go into a black hole when you send a resume on the internet because you’re there with a lot of other applicants. The key is to differentiate yourselves.”

Ganucheau kicked off the workshop by addressing critical basics of resume-writing such as, accuracy about school information, employer dates, and technical skills. She continued with resume content and layout and video interview tips. Nine students were exposed to an insider perspective on the hiring process.

Garrett Pieratt, senior in the Information Communication Technology program and secretary of the ICT student association said, "The workshops were great! The presenters were friendly, professional, and knowledgable. My resume and interviewing skills were definitely improved from attending." 

The workshop gave students the opportunity to network with an industry professional and the ICT program is excited to continue offering similar events. The program will host its first-ever speed networking night on Thursday, Mar. 3 at 6 p.m.
