Library Science Students Volunteer at PCSO Pride Library

Students and faculty in the Library Science program at UK SIS recently volunteered at clean-up and organizing events at the Pride Community Services Organization (PCSO) Pride Library in Lexington, Kentucky. The PCSO Library supports the local LGBTQ community through its collection and services. The Pride Library catalog and event calendar are available online. They are also highly active on Tumblr and other social media.

"The PCSO Pride Library is a donations based lending library dedicated to serving the local community through providing access to a diverse and affirming collection of LGBT+ related books and audiovisual materials. The collection includes young adult, adult, and children's fiction and nonfiction on a variety of topics from anthologies and art books to self-help, sex, and travel," says Kamryn Wies, Library Science graduate student and director of the Pride Library.

Students who are interested in volunteering then or on any occasion should contact the library via library [at] pcsoky.org (email). Announcements have also gone out over the Library Science listserv.
