The School of Information Science mourns the passing of one of its celebrated faculty members, Dr. Michael H. Harris.

Dr. Harris became a professor in the School in 1969 and remained until his retirement in 1996, serving as Professor Emeritus until his death on January 28, 2017. In addition to his work at the University of Kentucky, he was a leader in professional service, having notably served as past president of the Kentucky Library Association. An obituary has been posted online.

On behalf of our alumni and the Library Science program faculty, staff and administration, the School would like to thank Dr. Harris for his service to profession and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Our thoughts are with Dr. Harris’ family, children, and grandchildren at this time.
