Instructional Communication & Research Instructors Complete Professional Development Series

Friday, April 29th marked the end of the Spring 2016 Instructional Communication & Research (ICR) Professional Development Series. The series of workshops and events was put in place for the continued professional development of the school's ICR instructors and faculty. Instructors who completed the series (four sessions for full and part-time instructors, eight for teaching assistants) received a certificate which they are able to list on their curriculum vita.

 

This spring's ICR Professional Development Series included the following workshops and presentations:

Zeadally and Winkler Receive 2016 Emerald Literati Network Outstanding Paper Award

 

Dr. Sherali Zeadally is an Associate Professor in the ICT Program.

 

Nemer and Frisby Receive UK Confucius Institute Grants

 

Two faculty members at the UK School of Information Science will receive grants from the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute. Dr. David Nemer (Assistant Professor, Information Communication Technology) and Dr. Brandi Frisby (Associate Professor, Instructional Communication and Research) have been awarded funding through the Confucius Institute to pursue projects related to ICTs in China.

Library Science Faculty Present at 2016 iSchools iConference

Several of UK SIS' Library Science faculty will be presenting their research at the iSchools' iConference from March 20-23, 2016:

 

Dr. Namjoo Choi (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Choi will present a poster entitled "Involvement and Stickiness in Online Brand Communities: An Organizational Citizenship Behavior Perspective," from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on March 21.

Dr. Seungahn Nah (Associate Professor, Information Communication Technology) has been selected to participate in the Bluegrass Higher Education Consortium’s 2016 Academic Leadership Academy as a fellow.

SIS Talks: Faculty Lunch and Learn Series this Spring

 

Mark your calendars for research and pizza: the School of Information Science will have a new lunch and learn series this Spring, SIS Talks!

There will be three presenters this Spring from across the School. The talks are organized by Dr. Seungahn Nah (ICT).

Please join us on the following afternoons at 1:00 PM EST for some great presentations, discussions, and delicious pizza (bring your own beverage, please).

Nah Receives Funding for Nonprofit Awareness and Engagement Project

 

Dr. Seungahn Nah (Associate Professor, Information Communication Technology) has received a funding for his diversity proposal submitted to the CI Diversity Committee. Dr. Nah's proposal is entitled "The Nonprofit Awareness and Engagement Project (NAEP)," a community service learning project that will be part of the  ICT 390 Social Media and Society: The Nonprofit Sector special topics course.
