On Monday, February 26, 2018 the School of Information Science at the University of Kentucky hosted a guest lecture with two city officials who are a part of LexGig, an initiative that is bringing high-speed, gigabit Internet to Lexington, Kentucky as soon as summer of 2018.

On August 15, 2017, the School held its first joint orientation for new graduate students in the Library Science (LIS) and Information Communication Technology (ICT) master's programs.
We had twelve new master's students who attended in person (three ICT and nine LIS), and seven distance students who joined via Zoom.
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the School's Library Science scholarship awards for the Fall 2017 semester. There were five total individuals awarded this semester. More information on the awards made available may be found on our Funding Your Education page.
