Welcome to CI Stories - a community where College of Communication and Information students, facutly, staff, alumni and friends can share what makes them CI. 

At its most basic form, communication is storytelling. It can be words. It can be pictures. It can be truth. It can be fiction. It’s all about how that bit of information, that story, is passed along; how it is communicated.

ISC student brings multicultural sorority to campus

College of Communication and Information student Chanel Friday played a key role in founding the new Alpha Omicron Colony of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated at the University of Kentucky this year.

Friday, an Integrated Strategic Communication senior from Kennewick, Wash., has been working behind the scenes with a few other students for three years to bring the sorority to Kentucky’s campus.

When he's not in class at the Grehan Journalism Building or shooting video for the Lexington Herald-Leader, there's a chance Marcus Dorsey is skimming down a water slide with a GoPro in hand (or on head).

The University of Kentucky student has zipped and splashed through slides at dozens of water parks across the nation as well as parks in the Bahamas and in Dubai. It's all for fun, but it's also for his not-so-typical pastime: running a water slide database.

Brad Polivka, a UK communication and philosophy dual-degree graduate from Columbus, Ohio, will soon take on those challenges at Yale in the fall.
